Originally from Scarborough, Ontario, Deidre discovered her passion for basketball at a young age after randomly coming across a basketball left behind by the previous owners of her childhood home. What began as a simple moment of curiosity quickly turned into a lifelong love for the game. Soon after, she was enrolled in rep basketball, where she competed with programs such as the Scarborough Blues and East Toronto Basketball, developing her skills and deepening her connection to the sport.
Her dedication and hard work led her to pursue basketball at the collegiate level. Deidre first earned a spot at Humber College, before later accepting a full-ride athletic scholarship to Keyano College, where she continued her collegiate basketball career and further developed the leadership, discipline, and resilience that now shape her coaching philosophy.
Following her playing career, Deidre transitioned into coaching and youth development. She has worked with several respected basketball organizations including Lay-Up Youth Basketball, Toronto Raptors youth programs, and East York Basketball. Coach D has also traveled across Canada to coach and mentor young athletes, sharing her knowledge of the game while creating opportunities for players to learn, compete, and grow. Through these experiences, she has helped develop athletes at multiple levels while building strong relationships within the basketball community.
Through FNDN Basketball, Deidre has come full circle — turning the sport she fell in love with as a child into a platform that creates community, opportunity, and safe spaces for young athletes. Her mission is to use basketball not only to develop players, but to build character and inspire the next generation both on and off the court.

FNDN
about
Founded in 2023, FNDN Basketball is a development program serving boys and girls across the Greater Toronto Area. Built on the belief that basketball is more than just a game, FNDN is dedicated to developing the complete athlete — mind, body, and soul. Through high-level training, mentorship, and a strong sense of community, we help athletes build confidence, discipline, and skills that translate both on and off the court.
In a short time, FNDN has experienced rapid growth, supporting dozens of athletes through year-round training, delivering over 100 sessions annually, and creating impactful programs that bring together youth from across the city. Our summer camps and development programs welcome athletes ages 7–19, offering elite training, mentorship, and team-building experiences in a positive and inclusive environment.
FNDN stands for foundation — and that’s exactly what we build: strong foundations in skill, mindset, and character that last far beyond the game.
